Top Of The Feed

In 2024 I started Social Setting: an experiential invite-only series to connect brand marketing leads directly with Black influencers. I had been doing work to advocate for influencer diversity online, but let’s face it, the biggest value in this industry is relationships.

So while efforts of exposure continue via social media, I’ve also been cranking out Social Setting events.

It’s been so special to see something slowly growing from an idea to a movement. The energy and spirit has really been unmatched. We’ve consistently seen large brands show up from American Express, Louis Vuitton, Ticketmaster, Verizon & more. There’s also been amazing talent in attendance from all categories and tiers ranging from Andre Power of Soulection to Tunde Oyeneyin of Peloton.

And what’s even more powerful is that all of these different people are coming together and really just having a good time, human-to-human.

Food For Thought

Community > Campaigns

Brands chase reach, but impact really happens when you create spaces that foster long-term relationships. Social Setting proves that when you invest in connection first, the content, collaborations, and cultural relevance follow.

How are you building community, not just running campaigns?

Worth The Click

Super proud of the first Social Setting that took place at The New York Times #1 restaurant: Tatiana.

This community-format was special, as we gathered 60+ influencers and brands at the flagship store of international streetwear brand, Daily Paper, for a private party.

Behind The Feed

Since starting this I get asked a lot about sponsorship. Sponsorship is one of the major challenges in event planning (especially in this economy). If you’re in the midst of throwing something you’ve always dreamed of, or helping someone within your network, here are top level things I did to get started:

  1. Fronted the cost of my first event

  2. Invested in content photo & video content capture

  3. Hired a graphic designer to assist with a recap deck

  4. Looked to my network first to secure following sponsorships, until I had a larger portfolio

That said, it’s still a grind. But each event we make it happen! And if you’re interested in sponsorship opportunities for our Social Setting events be sure to reach out.
